WINDHOEK, 19 June (IRIN) - Namibia is to launch a nationwide polio vaccination campaign this week as the health authorities confirmed on Monday the death toll from the virus had risen to 12.

CONAKRY, 19 June (IRIN) - Shops opened, public transport resumed and markets were bustling in the Guinean capital on Monday after the government made significant concessions to trade unions, ending a crippling nine-day strike that was marked by violence.
